AI dalam transformasi digital

The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the higher education ecosystem is becoming increasingly imperative. The presence of AI is considered a fundamental condition in technology that must be harnessed, as the absence of AI is viewed as inefficient for institutional operations.

“Andrias Ekoyuwono, Chief of Corporate Strategy at kumparan.com, emphasized that AI enables more efficient learning and research. Without AI, the output is likely to be slower and of lower quality,” he stated during an event at FMIPA UGM on Friday (29/9).

As a speaker at the Program for Developing Literacy, Culture, and Skill Capacity to Support Digital Transformation at the University of Gadjah Mada, Andrias discussed the utilization of AI within the university ecosystem. This extends to teaching, research, administrative management, and various other requirements.

AI’s presence, according to Andrias, can be leveraged in all aspects of the university to streamline repetitive tasks. As a result, all university stakeholders can focus on tasks that can lead to better outcomes.

“Professors, students, and educational staff can make use of AI. They can use AI to create more engaging and personalized learning systems tailored to individual needs,” he explained.

He hopes that all universities, including UGM, will adopt AI according to their specific needs to further enhance the quality of their campuses. However, he cautions that AI is subject to ethical boundaries and other limitations that must be considered to ensure that AI values align with those of the university.

With AI, the landscape of academic research has expanded significantly and become more accessible. The availability of various AI-supported platforms has improved the path to discovery, making academic research more efficient and accessible. For example, Semantic Scholar accelerates literature searches and enhances academic investigations supported by AI.

“As we enter the era of AI-equipped education and management, the challenge lies in combining innovation with the fundamental values of the university,” he emphasized.
